Liebster Award | The Teddy Girl

Wednesday 25 February 2015

Hello Everyone!
Happy Friday! I hope your days are going well. A pretty cool thing occurred on my blog recently, the lovely Tori Ballestrin has nominated me for a Liebster Award! Now, I definitely had to check out what a Liebster Award even was (here is a very helpful article) but I think its a really great idea because it helps spread the love around and it also helps readers learn more about the bloggers they follow, which I think is pretty cool.

Here are the rules:

Thank and link the person who nominated you.
Answer the questions given by the nominator.
Nominate 11 other bloggers, who have less than 200 followers and link them.
Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer.
Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.

So, here are Tori's questions for me with my answers:

If you could change your name to anything you wanted, what would it be?
I actually really love my name. My mom picked it for me for pretty special reasons so I don't think I would ever change it, I think it suits me.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Oh boy, I really love shoes! But I do try not to go overboard. I'd say altogether I have around 10..maybe. I don't really keep track of things like that.

What is another language that you would like to speak?
I'd love to speak Italian, I'd love to be able to talk to some of my relatives in Italy but it would also help immensely with my singing.

What is your favourite album?
Ahhh theres so many... I think The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths

What are you most proud of in your life so far?
Being accepted into my Arts High School

What is your natural hair texture? (eg. curly, straight, wavy, frizzy)
I guess its kinda wavy and very very frizzy.

Do you have a pet or have you had a pet in the past? What are they like?
I'm a major animal lover so I've had my fair share of pets. I've had some goldfish, a hamster, two birds and I currently have two dogs.  I've been really lucky to have had some really sweet pets. They've all had lovely personalities.

What is your favourite flavour of fruit juice?
umm Probably apple.

Chocolate or vanilla?
Vanilla. I have a very unpopular opinion that chocolate flavoured things are absolutely disgusting.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I'd love to be able to stop time sometimes. That would be great.

You have three wishes. What do you wish for?
I thought way too long about this but here are my three wishes..

1) To have an incredibly strong friendship - I'm talking like Frodo and Sam stuff here.

2) To always have people who love and accept me in my life. And to do the same for those around me.

3) To become an opera singer. I don't need to be famous and make a lot of money but I do need to sing and be the best singer I can possibly be.

What is the one thing you can never have enough of?
Love. But for things you can actually own and hold - books and candles. You can never have too many books and candles.

I really don't know who to tag (I'm sorry I know this defeats some of the purpose!!) but I nominate whoever is reading this to answer these questions in your own post!! Consider yourselves nominated!

Here are my questions:

1. How did you come up with your blog name?
2. Which do you like best - books, music or movies?
3. What is the number on thing you look for in a friend?
4. Who is someone that inspires you?
5. What do you spend your extra money on?
6. What is one of your biggest dreams?
7. How would you describe your fashion style?
8. Favourite decade? (e.g. 50s, 80s etc..)
9. What is something you'd like to change about the world?
10.Favourite historical figure?(sorry, I'm a major history buff..)
11.What charity would you like to spread awareness about?

The Teddy Girl | Fashion

Saturday 14 February 2015

I apologize in advance for the horrible quality photos, my camera decided to go crazy so I had to use my phone instead..

So first things first. I've fallen in love with the teddy girl's fashion sense. Im thinking of doing a full post on them soon so stay tuned!! But a quick summary is that the teddy boys and girls were a subculture of working class young men and women in London during the 1950s that had a really cool unique style that mixed the normal 1950s fashion with edwardian pieces. When I saw some pictures of them (google them, you won't regret it) I thought their style was so close to mine its what Ive been dreaming of! Its the perfect combination of feminine and badass! I decided to attempt to create a modern day take on their style, so here it is and I absolutely love it!!

Red Checkered Shirt - Old Navy
Black Cardigan - Gap
Black Midi Skirt - Rosie the Rebel
Shoes - Asos
Neck Ribbon Thingy - just a strip of fabric that was hanging around...

My camera couldn't really take a decent picture of the shoes but they are so great! They have a brown tortoise shell pattern with a funky black platform heel. They'll for sure be featured in another outfit post because they're the coolest shoes I've ever owned!! Hopefully my camera will work by then! :)

Thanks so much for reading!
